Psychiatry, Held Within the Wider Care Team

The Psychiatry Pathway

How seeing our psychiatrist actually works, and why it starts somewhere other than his diary.

The short version

You don't book Dr Alexander directly. You start with a comprehensive assessment with one of our clinicians, and psychiatry is booked from there, once he is working from your full story rather than a blank slate.

Not a hurdle before the "real" appointment. The thing that makes the real appointment actually useful.
How it actually works

Four steps, in order

Step 1

Enquiry

You reach out through the usual enquiry pathway. If psychiatric input looks like it might be part of what you need, that is noted early, not decided on the spot.

Step 2

Comprehensive Assessment

A full session with one of our clinicians, building your actual history and context, not a form to tick through. Depending on what is going on, this can take more than one session. We would rather take the time than hand on a half-finished picture.

Step 3

Psychiatry Session

Dr Alexander meets you already knowing your story. The session is about the actual clinical decisions, not spent gathering information that is already there.

Step 4

Ongoing Care, Together

Psychiatry sits alongside your other care at Anoshe, not separate from it. Dr Alexander delivers his own psychotherapy where relevant, rather than handing that off.

Who you are seeing

A consultant psychiatrist working with adults, who delivers his own psychotherapy rather than prescribing and referring elsewhere, and who stays connected to the rest of your care team here.

Worth knowing plainly: this pathway does not include autism assessment or stimulant prescribing. If either is what you are after, we will say so directly at the assessment stage rather than let it surface later.
The practical details
First step
An enquiry, not a direct booking, so we can route you to the right starting point
Before psychiatry
A comprehensive assessment with one of our clinicians, always. Usually one session, sometimes more where the picture is complex
Timelines
Not promised in advance. We would rather be honest about pace than guess
Ongoing involvement
Psychiatry stays connected to your wider care, not a one-off referral out
Adults · Assessment First · Telehealth

Think psychiatric input might be part of it?

Start with an enquiry and we will talk through where it fits. He is meeting you with your story already in the room. That is the whole point of the order.
